Online grief counselling. Support from the comfort of home.
Whether you’ve lost a loved one, a cherished pet, or a sense of the life you thought you’d have, grief asks a lot. And when someone in your world is narcissistic, controlling, or emotionally unavailable, finding space to grieve can feel impossible.
At Jackson Grief Counselling, I provide calm, steady support for people who are grieving while also managing the impact of a difficult relationship. You don’t have to do this alone. You deserve support that understands the full picture.
Grief encompasses so many emotions that it may feel confusing or even isolating to think about, let alone live through. You may feel judged, in despair, or like things just don't make sense the way they once did. Every emotion is valid and unique. Your hopes and dreams are now taking a different direction in the absence of your loved one, which means your sense of the world, of what's real to you, is also changing.
But rather than suppressing emotions as they come up or putting them aside, we can use them to help shape your life and move it in a direction that honours you and your loved one. Your memories and your shared experiences don't disappear, nor should they. They can be woven into your future and that's where counselling can be incredibly beneficial.
Your support group is a vital part of understanding and adapting to your loss. If your loved ones are narcissistic or gaslighting you, this can make the changes you need to make even more difficult.
How to overcome this difficulty encompasses setting boundaries and informing your loved ones that you know that they are 'trying' to help; however, their insistence that you 'get over' your grief or 'move on' isn't helpful.
I can help you navigate this difficult situation to enable you to discuss how you feel and define boundaries that you can gently encourage them to follow. It doesn't need to be adversarial; instead, gentle reminders can prevent this from constantly occurring.
My name is Bronwyn and I'm a nurse and counsellor. Thank you for being brave enough to seek support during this difficult time. Grief is already one of life's most challenging experiences, and it can feel even more isolating when the people around you don't understand your pain or respond in ways that leave you feeling unheard, dismissed, or even criticised for how you're grieving.
Whether you're mourning the loss of a beloved pet, a person, or any other significant loss, your grief deserves to be honoured and supported, not minimised or judged. You shouldn't have to grieve alone or in silence because others don't validate your experience.
